Room 9

Lisa Harvey

Hi! I’m Ms. Lisa and this year is starting my 12th year at Assumption, all of them in Room 9! I moved to Michigan from Pennsylvania in 2011. I worked in an elementary school in central PA. I have 2 sons, Ian, who is recently married and living in Utah, and Zane, who lives in the area. Erik and I are also proud parents of 2 rescue dogs, Ila and Yasheau. I am a big fan of hockey and my favorite team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. I look forward to a fun filled year in Room 9!

Hi! I’m Ms. Val and I will be going on my 7th year at Assumption. I have my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies and am currently finishing up my Bachelor’s Degree. I am one of the lead teachers in Room 9, and also the Toddler Center Coordinator and Supervisor. I absolutely love working in the toddler center and seeing the children learn, grow, and develop. When I am not in Room 9, my boyfriend Sean and I spend time with family, friends, bowling, and spoiling our little Frenchie, Stella!

I will be starting my 17th year here at Assumption. I enjoy spending my day with the wonderful and loving staff, watching the young friendships develop, and seeing the growth that occurs over the course of the school year. I have an Associate’s Degree in Liberal arts from Oakland Community College. I have one son, Brandon, who I just adore. When I am not chasing around toddlers in Room 9, I enjoy taking walks, working in the yard, and most importantly, spending time with my family.

I have been at Assumption for 5 1/2 years now and I love it.  Seeing all the children’s happy faces, you can tell it is a place they feel safe and secure.  As a teenager I worked with preschoolers with my mother who owned and operated two Gymboree learning programs in the area.  Since 2005, I have worked as an assistant teacher at two other day care centers in the Royal Oak area.  I am looking forward to spending many years here at Assumption.  I enjoy babysitting, painting, watching movies, doing puzzles and spending time with my family and friends. As of June 19 2022, I am an aunt for the first time to a beautiful baby nephew, Michael Alexander. I am so excited!

This is my second year as an assistant teacher in the Toddler Room at Assumption.  I am a mom to six amazing kids, who all started their schooling here. Three kids attend Parcells Middle School and three are at Ferry Elementary. We spend a lot of time at the ball field, and when we aren’t busy with baseball we are spending time with family and visiting cousins up at college. I am so blessed to have this opportunity to watch these amazing toddlers grow into amazing kids.

I have been working at Assumption for almost a year now and I love it here! I love working with children and have been since a young age. I’ve also worked at other schools, have certifications in child development, medical assistant, and photography. At home, I have 2 boys, a dog, 3 cats, and a fish – I love animals! Children are the sunshine of my life, and I am so happy to have a career in caring for them.

Hello! I’ve been caring for young children for 24 years and counting, both in child care centers and as a private nanny. I’ve been at Assumption since 2018 and I love it! It’s a joy to know that I’m a part of helping children learn and grow and thrive. I also have 3 children of my own, and am happily married to my husband, Darin. I’m a total bookworm and I always have a book in my purse! I also enjoy writing, cooking/baking, and bike rides on sunny days!

I’ve worked at Assumption since July 2022. I’ve always loved working with kids, and have been a babysitter prior to this. Working with the kids has been so much fun, and I truly enjoy my job!
